The brief

Warmley Waiting Room is a family-run cafe on the Bristol-Bath cycle path. The new owners of the cafe wanted a website that showed off the quality food and drinks they have on offer as well as the quirky warm nature of the cafe.

The approach

We kicked off the project with a coffee and a chat at the cafe. It's in a lovely spot and it was nice to experience it first hand and meet some of the staff. We discussed what was wanted from the new site and threw around some design ideas. It also gave me the perfect opportunity to take some photos because they didn't have many since the cafe had recently reopened.

I built a custom theme for WordPress. As with nearly all my projects, I built it so that it is easy to edit all the text and add new images - I used Advanced Custom Fields for this. The design features some interesting curved dimensions on the images, which take their inspiration from the curves in the logo - I think this helps to express a little bit of the quirkiness and fun nature of the cafe.

The website is photo dominant so it was really great to be able to have a local photographer come in and take some really good photos. To keep the site running at a good speed I implemented a good caching policy and connected the site to Cloudfare's content delivery work.

The results

The cafe is really pleased with the new site. It is doing a good job of getting potential customers excited about the cafe and also answering frequently asked questions.

Thank you Peter, we are really pleased with our new website, it looks fantastic, is easy to navigate and guides people clearly to the various pages. I highly recommend.
